![]() You use the word “post” when you can’t exactly name something to replace that word, like postmodern. ![]() I wanted to keep in line with the idea of youth, and I thought about how to name my new album. Why is it titled “Post Youth?” My first single was titled “Youth” (2018). I’m going to have more albums in the future, so I can improve with them. I feel like I have taken my first official step as an artist. I felt really proud, but at the same time exhausted, because I put so much energy into it. I usually produce music for other people, and it was the first time to have my album and have other artists come and participate, instead of the other way round. I’ve produced singles in the past, but this is the first time I made an album. What was it like making your own album when you have only worked on other people’s work in the past? A. Since debuting in 2015, Boycold has been considered one of the most promising talents in songwriting. Few listeners know that his signature sound is actually the voice of popular ballad singer Younha. When a young woman’s voice blandly utters the short phrase, “Hey boy, it’s cold,” listeners know that the song has been made by Boycold, a 24-year-old producer who has been making a name for himself in recent years with his distinct electronic hip-hop sound. Among the most memorable signature sounds in Korean music today is one made by rising star and producer Boycold. In recent years, that autograph has usually been put at the top of a track, a wink to listeners in the know who is behind the music they’re listening to. Just as painters sign their names at the bottom of their pieces, music producers add their own signatures to the songs that they make.
